Under My Pillow

Under my pillow is a Rhinoceros.
I found her in a bookstore,
In a basket with other animals.
They all made noises when turned over.
Except her.
Her hard plastic drum deep
In her stuffing would only click.
Who else would see past what she could not say?
I bought the Rhino instead of a book.
I took her home.
I gently opened a seam
And relieved her of the
Dumb organ,
A blasphemous tumor,
And neatly stitched her up.
Edited.
Improved.
Better than ever.
